Istanbul hosted an event in honor of the 40th anniversary of the resettlement of ethnic Kyrgyz in the Turkish province of Van and the memory of Rahmankul Khan

On September 25, 2022, an event organized by the Association for Culture and Cooperation of the Kyrgyz Turks was held in Istanbul in honor of the 40th anniversary of the resettlement of ethnic Kyrgyz in the Turkish province of Van and the memory of Rahmankul Khan.

The event was attended by the Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Zhamankulov, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Deputy Governor of Istanbul Province Ozlem Bozkurt Gevrek, Head of the Zeytinburnu Municipality Omer Arısoy, representatives of public and cultural organizations, media, as well as ethnic Kyrgyz and citizens of Kyrgyzstan living in Istanbul.

Minister Zhamankulov congratulated the ethnic Kyrgyz on the anniversary, especially noted that for 40 years they have successfully continued to preserve their traditions and cultural identity. He also expressed gratitude to the Turkish people, who at one time warmly received the Kyrgyz brothers and shared a piece of bread.

In congratulatory speech, Ambassador Omuraliev noted the contribution of Rahmankul Khan to the implementation of this historic event. He also drew attention to the ongoing work by the authorities of Kyrgyzstan to return ethnic Kyrgyz to their historical homeland and provide them with various support.

As part of the event, there was a photo exhibition, a short documentary film, a panel discussion with professors and representatives of the academic community from Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and France, dedicated to the history of the Pamir Kyrgyz, as well as a concert program with the participation of performers from Kyrgyzstan.
