On September 19, 2019, there was the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Turkey Kubanychbek Omuraliev with Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey R.Pekjan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. In order to take effective measures to increase trade between the two countries, including an increase export of Kyrgyz products to Turkey, there was noted the necessity of holding the 9th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in October 2019.

Ambassador K. Omuraliev informed R. Pekjan regarding investment opportunities and the climate in the Kyrgyz Republic, conditions for doing business (low taxes and expenses for doing business), macroeconomic indicators and foreign trade turnover of the Kyrgyz Republic, about the membership of the Kyrgyz Republic in the EEU and status GSP +.

K.Omuraliev expressed the request for inclusion of the Kyrgyz Republic to the program “Countries enjoying special support” and the reduction by the Turkish side of customs duties on Kyrgyz beans on an ongoing basis. R. Pekjan noted that in 2017, due to the bean crop failure, Turkey reduced import customs duties. However, at present, there is no such necessity and in order to protect Turkish bean producers, Turkey cannot reduce duties and provide Kyrgyzstan with any preferences.
