Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic from 11.03.2014.

The Kyrgyz Republic shares the concern of the international community over the escalation of tensions in Ukraine. The Kyrgyz Republic condemns any actions aimed at destabilizing the situation in Ukraine. Therefore, we consider Viktor Yanukovych’s statement of March 11 of this year to be inappropriate and inadequate.

The only source of power in any country is the people. There can be no legitimate president who has completely lost the trust of his people, has de facto lost presidential powers and, moreover, has fled from his country. It was the ill-considered actions and the corruption of the former Ukrainian authorities that led to today's crisis and the deaths of dozens of innocent people.

The Kyrgyz Republic stands for the earliest possible resolution of the situation in Ukraine by peaceful means, through negotiations and dialogue, with unconditional observance of international law and the UN Charter.
