Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Aida Kasymalieva met with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell

On May 17, 2022, Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Aida Kasymalieva met with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral interaction between Kyrgyzstan and the UN Children's Fund. A. Kasymalieva stressed that Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates the activities of UNICEF and attaches great importance to strengthening comprehensive cooperation with the fund.

In addition, the Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan expressed her gratitude for the successful implementation of UNICEF country programs in the field of maternal and child health, children's access to education services, reduction of child mortality, and vaccination of the country's population against COVID-19.

In turn, UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell highly appreciated the work of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in strengthening state support for certain categories of vulnerable segments of the population, including citizens who have been taking care of persons with disabilities since childhood. Expressed support for the UNICEF country program in Kyrgyzstan for 2023-2027.

The parties also discussed the negative consequences of the current international situation and food security for socially vulnerable segments of the population, primarily the children. They expressed interest in implementing joint projects aimed at improving the situation of children in Kyrgyzstan and educating a new generation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
