Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN met with Head of the New York Office of UN Environment Programme

On November 11, 2020 Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Mirgul Moldoisaeva met with the Head of the New York Office of UN Environment Programme - Assistant Secretary-General Satya Tripathi.

Permanent Representative Mirgul Moldoisaeva informed Assistant Secretary-General Satya Tripathi about the activities of the Kyrgyz Republic in sphere of cooperation development on environment and biodiversity preservation, mentioning such initiatives as International Conference on Snow Leopard Ecosystems Preservation of 2013 and 2017 in Bishkek, declaration of December 11 as the International Mountain Day, establishment of the Group of Friends of Mountainous Countries in August 2019 as well as the participation of Head of State in Biodiversity Summit on September 30, 2020. Also the parties discussed possible cooperation in framework of new initiatives of the Kyrgyz party.

The Assistant Secretary-General Satya Tripathi positively noted the statement of the Kyrgyz party at the Biodiversity Summit on September 30, 2020 and informed about active work of UN Enviroment Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic conducted in framework of different project in the sphere of ecology. At the same time he expressed readiness of his Office to assist the Kyrgyz party in promotion of new initiatives aimed at the development of international cooperation.

In the final part of the meeting Permanent Representative Mirgul Moldoisaeva invited the Assistant Secretary-General Satya Tripathi to attend a side-event on the occasion of International Mountain Day arranged by the Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN on behalf of the Group of Friends of Mountainous Countries on December 11, 2020 which was accepted by the Assistant Secretary-General.
