On December 22, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev received Nemoto Naoyuki on the occasion of the completion of his mission as the Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the new Head of the JICA Office, Kawamoto Hiroyuki.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for further interaction in promoting relevant issues and projects of bilateral cooperation.

Minister R.Kazakbaev highly appreciated the activities of the Japanese agency JICA in Kyrgyzstan and expressed his gratitude to its leadership for support and efforts in promoting socially and economically significant projects with Japan, in the implementation of which JICA plays a key role. The interest of the Kyrgyz side in further expanding cooperation with JICA in the field of agriculture, education, health care, personnel training, as well as the development of the social sphere and infrastructure was emphasized.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic focused the attention of the counterparts on the importance of deepening cooperation in new promising areas through the implementation of joint initiatives in the field of digitalization, a green economy, aimed primarily at the development of mountain regions and villages of the republic. In this context, the parties highlighted the successful cooperation in the implementation of the «One village-one product» project and indicated their commitment to its further geographic expansion by covering all regions of Kyrgyzstan.

Special attention was paid to the issue of cooperation in the educational sector and noted the contribution of Japan to the development of human resources, in particular, in increasing the human resources of the system of state and municipal administration of the Kyrgyz Republic through training of government officials of the Kyrgyz Republic in Japanese universities under the JDS program.

The JICA representatives announced their further intention to continue joint work and close communication with the Kyrgyz side in all implemented and key areas of support and activities of JICA in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Concluding the meeting, Minister R. Kazakbaev thanked Nemoto Naoyuki for his fruitful work as the Chief Representative in the republic and wished success to the newly appointed Head of office Kawamoto Hiroyuki in his forthcoming work in Kyrgyzstan.
