On December 24, 2021, the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On External Migration” came into force, according to which a General Civil Passport for a child under 16 years of age is issued with the following validity periods:

• from the moment the child is born until he/she reaches the age of one year - for a period of two years;
• from one year until he/she reaches the age of 16 - for a period of five years.
