On April 21-22, 2022, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in the United Kingdom Ulan Djusupov met with head representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) at the organization's headquarters in London.

At a meeting with EBRD Managing Director for Central Asia Zsuzsanna Hargitai and Director of the EBRD representation in Kyrgyzstan Ayten Rustamova, the parties discussed joint events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EBRD. During this period, 207 projects worth more than 800 million US dollars were implemented.

The parties considered new projects, ready to be launched: "Bishkek Buses", "Green Cities", "Irrigation System Development" and "Construction of Chakan HPP".

It was noted that the EBRD fully shares the priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of green economy and renewable energy, and is ready to assist in their implementation, as well as in solving current issues in the energy sector of the Kyrgyz Republic.

J.Hargitai stressed that the Bank positively assessed the resolution of the dispute between the Kyrgyz Republic and Centerra Gold over the Kumtor deposit and that this will contribute to further investment prospects of the Kyrgyz Republic.

April 22, 2022, during a meeting with a member of the EBRD Board of Governors, Cagatay Imirgi, representing the interests of the Kyrgyz Republic, the importance of supporting the investment projects intended for the Kyrgyz Republic by EBRD was highlighted.

C.Imirgi, regarding the resolution of the dispute between the Kyrgyz side and the Canadian Centerra Gold, also noted that this would help restore international confidence in the investment climate of the Kyrgyz Republic.
