“The delegation of Kyrgyzstan took part in the forum of leaders of the “Movement Saemuel-2019”

On October 28-29, 2019 in Suwon (Republic of Korea), the Global Forum of Leaders “Saemaul Undong - 2019” (Movement for a New Village) and the Congress of National Leaders Saemuel were held with the participation of President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in. These events were held under the slogan "Life, Peace and Reverence".

The President of South Korea noted that this movement aimed at eliminating poverty, protecting the environment, sustainable development and unity of the nation, covers 33 thousand villages and 2 million families around the world.

The delegation of Kyrgyzstan, consisting of Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Republic of Korea Dinara Kemelova, President of the NGO “Movement for a New Village of Kyrgyzstan” Asuan Zhakypov and Head of the “Movement for a New Village” of the Sokuluk district Kamchybek Chyrganbaev took part in the events.

Kamchybek Chyrganbaev, the Head of the Movement for a New Village of the Sokuluk district, was awarded Certificate of Merit of the World Movement Saemaul for his contribution to the development of the Movement.

Within the framework of the Forum, the Kyrgyz delegation  met with the President of Korea Saemaul Undong Center Mr. Chung Sung Heon and other high-ranking officials of South Korea where the perspective of cooperation on regional development and exchange of experience were discussed.

“Saemaul Undong” means a community development movement that enables villagers and local communities to work together to improve the quality of life based on a spirit of diligence, self-help and cooperation. This movement was created in the Republic of Korea in 1970.

Currently, “Saemaul Undong” projects are being promoted in 9 countries., The Kyrgyz Republic is participating from Central Asia in this movement.
