The Third Meeting of the Group of Friends of Youth and Security in the OSCE under the chairmanship of the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE, Ambassador Tolendy Makeev was held

On October 29, 2021, the Third Meeting of the Group of Friends of Youth and Security in the OSCE under the chairmanship of the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE, Ambassador Tolendy Makeev in a hybrid format was held in Vienna.

In his welcoming speech, the Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the OSCE T.Makeev emphasized the importance of the role of education in the life of young people in terms of security. On the topic of the meeting, related to investing in education, he noted that education opens the way for youth to transform, which is a key element for the formation of an active civic position in society.

The co-chairs of the Group: The Permanent Representative of Spain to the OSCE, Ambassador C.R. Valdes, and the Charge d'Affaires of the United States to the OSCE, Ms. C.Austrian also made a welcoming speech.

The official representatives of state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the Meeting. The Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic A.Jamankulov addressed his speech through a video message.

The Deputy Director of the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports under the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic S.Nadyrbekov made a presentation on the youth policy of the Kyrgyz Republic as the main speaker. The main directions of developing a strategy and action plans based on the Concept of Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2020-2030 were touched upon in the presentation. 

In turn, the representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic E.Kozhoev told the participants about the role of education in the formation of value orientations of youth.

The Representatives of various OSCE institutions, the Swedish OSCE Chairpersonship, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and the Director of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, as well as international experts also made statements on other points of the agenda items.

For reference: The Group of Friends of Youth and Security was created in 2015 and is a unique forum in Vienna for the consistent advancement of the OSCE agenda on the theme "Youth and Security". The Group was chaired by Spain until 2020. Since January 2021, the Group has been co-chaired by Kyrgyzstan, Spain and the United States.

The co-chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in this Group is due to the presence of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, which is the unique and only such educational institution of the OSCE.
