On May 3, 2023, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Moldogaziev met with the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybay.

Aibek Moldogaziev noted that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to the cooperation within the CICA and supports the efforts of the Kazakh side to the implementation the overall potential of the Conference as a dialogue mechanism, as well as its transformation into an international organization. At the same time, he stressed the importance of practical activities and joint efforts to maintain stability and security in the region and create conditions for sustainable socio-economic development of the member countries.

In its turn, Kairat Sarybay informed about the work being done by the Secretariat on the preparation of the Roadmap for the transformation of CICA into a full-fledged international organization under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan and the efforts aimed at the institutional development of CICA as a whole.

In addition, K. Sarybay proposed to organize a CICA foot crossing in the second half of July this year with the participation of the diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. According to K. Sarybay, this event will provide an opportunity to strengthen cross-border cooperation, including between the border services of the two countries, as well as to draw the world’s attention to environmental issues, raise awareness of the potential of mountainous areas, including for tourism development and healthy lifestyle.

The parties agreed to continue joint work on all topical issues that are on the agenda of the CICA.
