The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova met with the President of the International Climate&Environment Center (ICEC) of the Republic of Korea Dr. Won-Tae Yun 

On May 12, 2022 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova and delegation led by the President of the International Climate&Environment Center (ICEC) of the Republic of Korea Dr. Won-Tae Yun was .

During the meeting, both sides discussed the preparatory work for the implementation of the grant project "Establishment of Systems for Climate Crisis Response Management & Capacity Building in the Kyrgyz Republic" through KOICA in the amount of more than 5 million US dollars.

According to the Korean side, given the vulnerability of Kyrgyzstan to climate change, following the results of the project, it will be possible to obtain primary data for meteorological and environmental analysis, establish methods for assessing the climatic environment and formulate a policy to combat natural disasters and reduce productivity due to climate change. The project will also lay the groundwork for establishing the climate change network in Central Asia and train specialists for forecasting, assessing and developing policies to respond to climate change.

In turn, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Mrs. Dinara Kemelova drew the attention of the Korean side to the situation with air pollution in Bishkek and expressed interest in implementing environmental protection projects.

In addition, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Mrs. Dinara Kemelova informed the Korean side about the announcement in Kyrgyzstan of 2022 - the Year of Protection of Mountain Ecosystems and Climate Resilience, as well as about Kyrgyzstan's initiatives for the sustainable development of mountain regions.
