On May 15, 2019, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States Dr.Bolot Otunbaev met with Mr.Stephen Nix, Regional Director for Eurasia of the International Republican Institute. The implementation of IRI’s current programs in Kyrgyzstan, as well as joint plans for future activities were discussed during the meeting.

Ambassador Otunbaev, taking into account Institute’s direct interaction with political parties, NGOs and activists in Kyrgyzstan, emphasized the need for a balanced and fair approach of IRI’s program activities in order to prevent disruption of the political balance in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Mr.Nix, emphasizing the leading role of Kyrgyzstan in the region in the development of democracy and parliamentarism, assured of Institute’s readiness and openness to work with all interested parties in Kyrgyzstan without any preferences.

The parties agreed to maintain regular contacts both in Washington and through the Offices of the Institute in Bishkek and Osh.
