The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Kyrgyz Republic has, together with “Facebook” Corporation, carried out a webinar on Digital Diplomacy aimed at employees of the MFA and employees of foreign missions of the Kyrgyz Republic

On September 9th, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Kyrgyz Republic has, together with “Facebook” Corporation, carried out a webinar on Digital Diplomacy aimed at employees of the MFA and employees of foreign missions of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The event was dedicated to training diplomats the best skills of using social networks in order to reach a wider audience and to promote the country and its interests more effectively across the international information space. 

The opening of the webinar saw George Chen, Head of Facebook’s Public Policy, saying that the Kyrgyz Republic became the first country in Central Asia for which such type of event was organized. One of the reasons for this is Kyrgyzstan’s active involvement in digital transformation, which prompted interest from Facebook. 

In response, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Nuran Niyazaliev expressed gratitude to the entire Facebook team for organizing the webinar. He emphasized the importance of using social networks to promote a country’s foreign policy interests, to spread of reliable information to a wide audience, and to provide assistance to the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic abroad with the help of official pages of the embassies of the Kyrgyz Republic abroad.

N. Niyazaliev also expressed gratitude for the assistance provided jointly with the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Great Britain and Northern Ireland in obtaining verification for the pages of embassies and consulates on Facebook and Instagram.
