On March 9, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the new Diplomatic Representative of the Aga Khan Organization for Development in the Kyrgyz Republic Barkat Fazal.

The meeting began with the ceremony of credentials by the new Diplomatic Representative of the Aga Khan Development Organization for Development in the Kyrgyz Republic B.Fazal to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic R.Kazakbaev After it the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Aga Khan Organization for Development.

Particularly, further cooperation on improvement of life in mountain regions of the Kyrgyz Republic and the importance of cooperation’s widening for mountain ecosystems’ preservation have been discussed. The Minister R.Kazakbaev noted the recent international initiatives in this direction, such as the adoption of relevant UN and UNESCO resolutions, as well as the importance of implementation of the 1000 Mountain Villages Initiative aimed at social and economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic’s regions.

Also the Minister R.Kazakbaev expressed gratitude to the Aga Khan Organization for Development for their assistance in combating the coronavirus pandemic and helping the ethnic Kyrgyz in Pamir and Afghanistan, underling the importance to proceed bilateral cooperation in this direction.

The Diplomatic Representative of the Aga Khan Organization for Development B.Fazal confirmed his readiness to continue the implementation of ongoing projects in the Kyrgyz Republic and widen cooperation on the agenda discussed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic R.Kazakbaev.
