On June 22, 2023, Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to France, met with Mr. Yannick Fauré, Director of International Relations and Legal Security of the French Ministry of Culture and Mr. Mathew Burton, Director of Multilateral Cooperation of the French Ministry of Culture in Paris.

The meeting was held on the initiative of the Kyrgyz side to enhance Kyrgyz-French bilateral cooperation in the field of culture.

Ambassador S.Sher-Niyaz noted with satisfaction the start of the Franco-German Cultural Institute in Bishkek and thanked the French side for its decision to establish the Institute in Bishkek. Taking into account experience and achievements of France in cultural development, he additionally suggested allocating a quota for training and professional development of museum personnel from the Kyrgyz Republic to exchange experience in restoration and preservation of museum exhibits and ancient artefacts.

The French side positively considered the proposal to organize courses for museum workers and assured their readiness to welcome museum specialists from Kyrgyzstan under the "welcome professionals" Programme for exchange of experience and professional development in France.

Parties also exchanged views on cooperation in the field of cinematography. The Ambassador proposed reciprocity in holding Kyrgyz film week in Paris and French film week in Bishkek.

Ambassador Sher-Niyaz proposed to accelerate consideration by the French side of the draft agreement on cooperation in the field of culture between the Kyrgyz Republic and France in order to expand the legal framework.

As a result of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their willingness to continue joint efforts to further expand cooperation in the cultural sphere between the Kyrgyz Republic and France.
