On February 12, 2024, the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Chicago visited the Port Isabel Detention Center in Texas. The visit was aimed at familiarizing with the conditions of detention and providing consular support to Kyrgyz citizens currently residing in this facility.

Representatives from the Consulate General met with officials from the center, discussing current issues and the conditions of the detainees.

Consul General B. Borbiev expressed gratitude to the leadership of the center, emphasizing the readiness to continue the dialogue and collaborate in the interest of safeguarding the rights and legitimate interests of Kyrgyz citizens.
