The Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Chicago conducted meetings with representatives of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Service California, on February 16, 2024.

During the meetings, they discussed issues of protecting the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots entering the United States through Mexico, and exchanged information about the current situation and challenges faced by citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

The Consulate General also visited the U.S. Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens «U.S. ICE, Otay Mesa Detention Center», California. The visit aimed to familiarize with the conditions of detention for foreign citizens, including citizens of Kyrgyzstan, located in this center.

For reference: the “Otay Mesa” Detention Center (“Otay Mesa” DC) is located in San-Diego, California, housing foreign citizens detained by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement for illegal entry via the US-Mexico border.
