On June 9, 2022, in Vienna, as part of the participation of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Moldogaziev in the political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the Kyrgyz Republic and Austria on bilateral cooperation, he met with the Director General for Foreign Economic Relations of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Digital and Economic Affairs, co-chairman of the Kyrgyz-Austrian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation Franz Wessig.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral economic cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Austria. The issues of the upcoming 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Bishkek on September 27-28 this year and organization within its framework of the Kyrgyz-Austrian business forum with the participation of the Kyrgyz and Austrian entrepreneurs have been discussed.

In order to prepare for the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental commission in the Kyrgyz Republic, the parties discussed the implementation of the Protocol following the results of the 7th meeting of the Commission held in Vienna in 2020. The Kyrgyz side also proposed to start preparing at the expert level a draft Protocol following the results of the upcoming 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed possible areas of Kyrgyz-Austrian cooperation in the field of agriculture, textile industry, hydropower, and tourism. They noted the importance of increasing the interaction of the Kyrgyz Republic with the regions of Austria, in particular, through presentations of the economic and investment potential of the Kyrgyz Republic, holding the Kyrgyz-Austrian business forums in the federal lands of Austria.
