On March 12, 2021, the first meeting of the OSCE Group of Friends on Youth and Security in the Troika format was held in Vienna. The meeting was chaired by Spain and attended by the co-chairs of the Group: Kyrgyzstan and the USA.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation of Spain, Ms. A.G.Laya, the OSCE Secretary General, Ms. H.Schmid, the Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council, Permanent Representative of Sweden to the OSCE, Ms. U.Funered, Special Representative of the Swedish Chairmanship on youth and security issues, Ms. R.Marbinah and others.

In his welcoming speech as Co-Chair of the Group of Friends on Youth and Security, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE, Ambassador B. Dzhusupov thanked the heads of the Spanish and US delegations to the OSCE for their support, trust and intention to promote the topic of youth and security along with Kyrgyzstan.

He noted that the Kyrgyz side is ready to contribute as a co-chair of the Group in the Troika format. Kyrgyzstan is a young democracy and the country's co-chairmanship in the Group is mainly due to the presence of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, which is a unique OSCE educational project in Central Asia. Founded in 2002 at the initiative of Kyrgyzstan to develop regional cooperation, today the Academy supports research of young professionals.

B. Dzhusupov also welcomed the efforts of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek aimed at supporting youth initiatives and called on all stakeholders to use the resources of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek to advance the youth agenda.
