Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Austria took part in the wreath-laying ceremony dedicated to the 78th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945)

On May 9, 2023, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Austria, together with the diplomatic missions of a number of CIS member states, took part in the solemn wreath-laying ceremony dedicated to the 78th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War.

During the traditional event, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Austria Tolendy Makeyev and the staff of the diplomatic mission of Kyrgyzstan laid wreaths at the memorials of Soviet soldiers on Schwarzenbergplatz Square and the Central Cemetery of Vienna.

For reference: The memorial, known as the Monument to the Heroes of the Soviet Army, was erected in memory of 17 thousand Soviet soldiers who died in the battle for the city during World War II. This monument is located on Schwarzenbergplatz Square and is a symbol of eternal memory and gratitude for heroism in the liberation of the Austrian capital by Soviet Army soldiers, including Kyrgyz soldiers.

The central cemetery of the city of Vienna is a resting place for many prominent politicians, composers and artists of Austria. There is also a Soviet military burial, where the servicemen who died during the liberation of the city from Nazi Germany in 1945 are buried.
