On May 24, 2023, Tolendy Makeyev, Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to International Organizations in Vienna, held a meeting with Gerd Müller, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

During the meeting, the Permanent Representative supported the efforts of the Director General in the field of industrial development and reform of the Organization. The parties discussed issues of enhancing practical cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and UNIDO, primarily on the launch of the Programme of Country Partnership (PCP) in the Kyrgyz Republic. In particular, Kyrgyzstan Permanent Representative informed about the ongoing efforts in the field of industrial development and resource mobilization, as well as about the readiness of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to sign and practically launch the PCP. According to the Kyrgyz side, the Programme developed with the active assistance of UNIDO can open up wide opportunities for inclusive growth of the green economy in the country, agro-industry, hydropower, implementation of projects in the field of climate change and tourism.

In turn, Mr. Muller expressed UNIDO's readiness to assist in updating the PCP to bring this program document in line with the current standards and requirements of this Organization, which is a key prerequisite for signing a Cooperation Program with the Kyrgyz Republic in the near future.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their interest in further deepening cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and UNIDO in the above areas to ensure the sustainable development of the country.
