Cultural and humanitarian cooperation

Through the organization of various events, the Embassy carries out work to promote national values and traditions, including historical figures of Kyrgyzstan.

On August 31, 2021, in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic, on the main square of the Kecioren municipality of Ankara, the opening ceremony of the monument to the hero of the Kyrgyz epic Manas took place.

On October 1, 2021, in the Park of Turkic History in Etimesgut municipality of Ankara, the inauguration of the monument to the first Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Kyrgyz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic Zhusup Abdrakhmanov took place.

On August 31, 2022, on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic, in Cappadokia, there was held the grand opening ceremony of the "Kyrgyzstan" park which is like a symbol of friendship and cultural commonality between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye.

Thus, based on the agreement reached with the Heads of the municipalities of Chubuk and Chankaya in Ankara, the park named after Kurmanjan Datka in Chubuk is at the stage of completion, and the opening of the park and the bust in honor of Chingiz Aitmatov in Chankaya will take place on October 8, 2022.

Cooperation in the cultural sphere is implemented both at the bilateral level and within the framework of the international organization TURKSOY. Recently, concerts were held in honor of the Nooruz holiday, organized jointly with TURKSOY. The concert took place with the participation of more than 250 performers from 13 Turkic-speaking and Balkan countries, including from Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz dance groups "Shattyk", "Keremet", "Nariste-Kyzgaldak" and soloists of the ensemble "Akak" impressed with their performances.

The most important cultural events aimed at developing bilateral cooperation are the World Nomad Games. By the Iznik Lake in Türkiye, on September 29, 2022, the official opening ceremony of the IV World Nomad Games took place with the participation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov and the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan. More than 3,000 athletes from 102 countries took part in the Games. Kyrgyzstan was represented by 148 athletes. The closing ceremony of the event took place on October 2, 2022.

An important issue of humanitarian cooperation is free treatment of 150 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic per year in hospitals of Turkey under the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Health and Medical Sciences. In connection with the coronavirus COVID-19, in February 2020, the Turkish side temporarily suspended the implementation of this Agreement.

One of the main areas of cooperation is education. Within the framework of this cooperation, 1649 students, both on a budgetary and on a private basis, and 19 cadets are studying at the universities of Turkey. For the 2021-2022 academic year, 1048 Turkish citizens are studying at the universities of the Kyrgyz Republic.
