On December 10, 2020, Within the framework of the ongoing work on the promotion of economic diplomacy, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Agency for Investment Protection and Involvement of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted a Kyrgyz-Pakistani Business Forum ′′ Redefining the Silk Road: Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan era of interconnectedness".

The purpose of this forum is to attract Pakistani investors, develop bilateral trade and tourism, share experiences on fighting COVID-19 and hold B2B meetings between representatives of the two countries business community. From the Kyrgyz side, the business forum was opened by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Erik Beishembiev, who noted the need and timeliness of the Kyrgyz-Pak trade and economic relations, due to the negative effects of COVID-19 in the world economy. The Executive Director of the Lahore Peace Study Center delivered a welcome speech from the Pakistani side. The Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani was also joined through video conferencing. A large number of business representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan took part in the forum. Presentations were made by the heads of relevant Ministries and Departments of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In particular, the Director of the Investment Protection and Involvement Agency of Kyrgyzstan made a substantive presentation in English. Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan, Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Reclamation of Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism under the MKIT Kyrgyz Republic, who presented investment and promising directions in priority sectors of the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic. A panel discussion was also organized during the forum, during which the participants of the event were able to get answers to their questions.

At the end of the event, representatives of the business community of the two countries were presented with thematic platforms (on education, medicine, information technology, agriculture, textiles and trade) to establish business contacts. As a result of the forum, bilateral contracts between representatives of the two countries are expected to be concluded to further implement joint projects in these sectors of the economy in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. The event was attended by about 90 participants from the Kyrgyz side and 55 participants from the Pakistani side, including several members of the Pakistan Senate.

This event also plans to hold a round table with the participation of experts from two countries in education and medicine, to exchange experiences in the fight against COVID-19.
