On September 28, 2023, the Consul General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Novosibirsk A.Aidarbekov visited the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPSTL SB RAS) and held a meeting with the director of the library I.Lizunova.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of establishing cooperation between SPSTL SB RAS with libraries, scientific institutions and universities of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as holding joint events, including exhibitions, lectures, book presentations, seminars on science and culture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Director of SPSTL SB RAS I.Lizunova noted the library's interest in signing a cooperation agreement with the Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

For his part, A.Aidarbekov expressed the readiness of the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Novosibirsk to assist the SPSTL SB RAS in expanding contacts with libraries, universities and scientific institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic, concluding cooperation agreements and ensuring mutual participation of representatives of libraries of Bishkek and Novosibirsk in scientific events and conferences dedicated to librarianship.

In addition, the issues of the exchange of scientific and historical data available at the State Scientific Research Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the history of the Yenisei Kyrgyz and the possibility of holding separate research events on this issue were discussed.

In order to strengthen cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the sides reached an agreement to open a permanent exhibition on the history, culture and literature of Kyrgyzstan in October this year with the assistance of the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Novosibirsk.

For reference: G SPSTL SB RAS is one of the oldest libraries in Russia, which is a universal scientific library. The library began its activity in 1918 in Moscow, in Novosibirsk – since 1958.

In terms of the volume of funds, GPNTB SB RAS today ranks among the largest libraries in the country and the world – more than 10 million units of printed publications. This is the richest collection of scientific, industrial, technical and educational literature, every fourth edition is in a foreign language. She plays a leading role in the information support of science, industry and culture of Siberia. In terms of the volume of funds and the main indicators of the work of the State Library of the SB RAS, it is comparable with the Russian National (St. Petersburg) and the Russian State (Moscow) libraries.
