Aspects of bilateral cooperation were discussed with the American company

On February 5, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the USA and Canada B. Amanbaev met with the President of General Electric for the CIS region Bela Ferenczi.

B. Amanbaev informed Mr. Bela Ferenczi that the country's leadership pays great attention to the strategically important energy sector and in the last 3 years the Kyrgyz Republic has launched large-scale projects aimed at the further development of the sector and other projects to modernize existing energy capacities.

He noted with satisfaction the work that the General Electric is doing in the Kyrgyz Republic to modernize the Toktogul hydroelectric power station and said that there are many opportunities for the company in the Kyrgyz Republic, considering the country’s huge potential to produce green energy through hydropower, which is currently being used at 1/10 of its potential.

Mr. B. Ferenczi expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the USA and Canada B. Amanbaev for his time and informed him regarding the company’s activities in the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the conversation, B. Amanbaev asked for Mr. Bela Ferenczi’s assistance in conducting an independent technical assessment of the Kambar Ata-2 project for the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic. Mr. Ferenczi expressed the company’s readiness to continue fruitful cooperation and that the company is currently studying the letter of the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic and will soon provide its response on this matter.
