Meeting with US Senator

On February 28, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States and Canada Baktybek Amanbaev met with U.S. Senator Stephen Daines, elected from the state of Montana.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation and joint events in the future.

Ambassador B. Amanbaev provided the Senator with detailed information on measures taken in the Kyrgyz Republic under the leadership of President Sadyr Zhaparov in recent years, aimed at strengthening national security, expanding regional cooperation and development of social and economic development of the country. The Ambassador also proposed to establish a "Friendship Group" in the U.S. Congress to strengthen mutual cooperation between the parliaments of the United States and the Kyrgyz Republic in the future.

The Senator expressed his readiness to actively develop inter-parliamentary cooperation and support the implementation of the discussed plans. He also agreed to visit Kyrgyzstan in the near future.

In addition, the parties exchanged views on topical issues of regional and international agenda.
