On May 28, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States and Canada Baktybek Amanbaev met with Governor of Montana Greg Gianforte. The meeting discussed ways to develop bilateral cooperation.

Bakyt Amanbaev informed the governor about the political and economic reforms implemented in Kyrgyzstan in recent years under the leadership of President Sadyr Zhaparov, and also spoke about major infrastructure projects implemented at the regional level. Then he presented his proposals for improving bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Bakyt Amanbaev also noted that cattle are bred in Kyrgyzstan, from sheep to wild yaks, and stressed the need to improve the quality of livestock. To achieve this goal, he proposed to bring frozen seeds of Angus, Hereford and Simmental breeds from Montana and launch a special project to improve the quality of livestock in Kyrgyzstan.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte expressed interest in improving bilateral cooperation and stressed the need for comprehensive support for the implementation of specific projects by business representatives to improve trade and economic relations between the two countries. During the discussion, the parties agreed on holding a business forum on agriculture, education, mining and the development of new technologies.

At the end of the conversation, the parties confirmed their mutual intention to continue the dialogue on a wide range of bilateral cooperation, and also outlined further plans for the implementation of the agreements.
