On September 7, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev received the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Dr. Robert Floyd, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the Regional Seminar "Strengthening the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Regime".

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on topical issues of cooperation and further deepening of interaction between Kyrgyzstan and the CTBTO.

Minister Zh.Kulubaev confirmed the commitment of Kyrgyzstan, as the depositary of the Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia, to maintaining peace, non-violence and preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Dr. Robert Floyd noted the positive prospects for expanding and strengthening the partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the CTBTO.

As part of his first visit to Kyrgyzstan, Dr. R.Floyd will also give a special lecture on nuclear testing for students of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic with the participation of representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
