On September 7, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic organized a guest lecture by the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Dr. Robert Floyd for students of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic with the participation of representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In his welcoming speech, Akylbek Kylychev, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, expressed his gratitude to Dr. Floyd for the opportunity to organize a guest lecture and expand the range of professional knowledge and skills of future diplomats.

In turn, the representative from the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic - Chief Scientific Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Corresponding Member Bermet Khudaibergenova also thanked Dr. Floyd, emphasizing that the Institute of Seismology under the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic plays a key role in strengthening and expanding cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the CTBTO.

During his lecture, the head of the CTBTO shared information about the history of the formation of the Organization, its participants, the ongoing work on the entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, as well as the features of the Central Asian region as one of the nuclear-free zones.

The lecture was accompanied by a lively discussion and many questions from the participants.
