On September 10, 2023, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Austria and the Kyrgyz diaspora held a joint event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic in Vienna. The celebration was attended by official guests and compatriots from Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary, as well as representatives of other ethnic groups living in Austria.

Participants and guests of the solemn event were welcomed by Ambassador Tolendy Makeyev, who congratulated them on Independence Day and presented the certificates of gratitude to the Chairman of the Kyrgyz Diaspora Almasbek Eldar and his wife Daiyrbek kyzy Aliya for their active work among our compatriots in Austria, and to Mrs. Satieva Cholpon for the popularization of the original Kyrgyz culture in countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

During the celebration, the student of Vienna University Felix Ehrenbrandtner, who recently participated in the student exchange program between Kyrgyzstan and Austria, shared his impressions about his trip to Kyrgyzstan. Together with a group of eight Austrian students, he visited Bishkek and Lake Issyk-Kul from August 22 to 31, 2023, in order to strengthen international relations and exchange experience in youth policy, ecology and technical innovation.

The celebration was accompanied by a varied cultural and concert program, quiz and games. The traditional ritual of cutting a child's bonds (tushoo kesu) aroused great interest among the guests.
