On January 25-26, 2024 the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Italy Taalai Bazarbaev paid a working visit to the Veneto region.

During the meeting with the Vice-Mayor of Venice Andrea Tomaello the parties discussed the aspects related to establishing regional cooperation with the cities of Kyrgyzstan by signing an agreement on cooperation in trade, economy, tourism, cultural, humanitarian and scientific and technical fields. Ambassador Taalai Bazarbaev invited the leadership of the Venice City Hall to visit Kyrgyzstan to implement the discussed initiatives.

An agreement was reached with the vice-rector of the «Ca’ Foscari Venezia» University, Chiara Saccon to establish cooperation with higher educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan and organize joint scientific and cultural events. Ambassador Taalai Bazarbaev submitted a draft Agreement on bilateral cooperation for consideration, which would also include the exchange of students, teaching staff and provide the opportunity to obtain quotas for studying at the Venice University.

Issues of developing trade, economic and investment interaction were discussed with the Head of the International Relations Department of the Association of Italian Industrial Companies “Confindustria Veneto Est” Alessandro Nardo.

In order to attract Italian companies to the Kyrgyz market the investment projects in the field of renewable energy sources, light industry, agriculture and tourism were presented. Along with that Kyrgyz export products were also presented.

Alessandro Nardo expressed his readiness to attract business representatives from the Veneto region to Kyrgyzstan and organize a business mission this year.

For reference: Confindustria Veneto Est unites five thousand companies in the provinces of Venice, Padova, Rovigo and Treviso. The region's foreign trade turnover at the end of 2023 amounted to more than 80 billion euros.
