The Kyrgyz Republic and the State of Qatar signed the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations on March 3, 1998. Click to see the text of the Protocol.

On October 2, 2012, the Embassy of the State of Qatar was opened in Bishkek. On December 8, 2014, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic signed the Decree "On the Establishment of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the State of Qatar" to promote the further development of political, trade and economic, scientific, technical and cultural ties between the two countries. Upon completion of all necessary protocol and organizational tasks, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Doha began its full-fledged work in June 2016.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, political dialogue has been continuously conducted - the sides exchanged delegations of various levels, meetings of officials took place on the sidelines multilateral events hosted by the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as international conferences, etc.

Cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the State of Qatar received an impulse for the further deepening in a series of meetings and visits at the highest level, starting from 2012. Among them, the official visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to the State of Qatar on December 7-8, 2014 and his working visit on December 14-15, 2015, as well as the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic to the State of Qatar on March 5-6, 2012.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in cooperation. The Deputy Minister-Director of the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Member of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Chairman of the Friendship Group of the Jogorku Kenesh with the State of Qatar, the Minister of Healthcare, the Minister of Economy, the Vice Prime Minister, the Minister of Education and Science, the Minister of Transport and Roads, the Minister of Emergency Situations visited the State of Qatar in 2016-2018. In February 2018, the First Inter-Ministerial Political Consultations on the level of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs were held in Bishkek.

At the same time, visits to Bishkek of the Minister of Culture and Sport of the State of Qatar, delegations of the Ministry of Defense, the office of the Prime Minister for Trade and Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, the Red Crescent of Qatar, the Director General of the Qatar Aviation College, as well as the Days of Culture were organized. The Minister of Culture and Sport of the State of Qatar participated in the opening ceremonies of the World Nomad Games in 2014 and 2016.
