The Kyrgyz Republic and the State of Qatar signed agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion with respect to taxes on income, on economic, trade and technical cooperation, on mutual encouragement and protection of investments, which lay a solid foundation for deepening cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres.

During the period of 2014-2015, the Kyrgyz Republic was visited by representatives of the Qatar Investment Authority, Ministry of Economy and Trade of the State of Qatar, Hasad Food, Qatar Mining and Katara Hospitality state companies, as well as an investment delegation led by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar on International Cooperation. During the visits and meetings, opportunities for trade, economic and investment cooperation were discussed.

In 2016, the Kyrgyz-Qatari Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation was established. The First Meeting of the intergovernmental commission was held on March 14, 2017 in Doha, during which the parties discussed the volume of trade and investment, stressed the importance of expanding trade and economic relations between the two countries. The parties also stressed the need to intensify and develop investment cooperation, regular meetings between representatives of the private sector in both countries, as well as the exchange of delegations of entrepreneurs and the organization of trade fairs. It was agreed to continue cooperation in the field of investment and encourage the exchange of available investment opportunities and related information to study their profitability. Following the results of the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission, the Protocol was signed, which includes agreements on the development of cooperation in the spheres of trade and economy, investment, healthcare, transport, education and culture. The next meeting of the Kyrgyz-Qatari Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation will be held in 2019 in Bishkek.

The Trade and Economic Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to Doha in April 2017 was a significant event in the efforts to further expanding the Kyrgyz-Qatari trade, economic and investment relations. It was attended by the Director of the State Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Export under the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of Kyrgyz companies. As a result, agreements were reached on the supply of honey, dried fruits and water, as well as developing the possibility of export of meat products. Together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar, work is underway to establish a Kyrgyz-Qatari Business Council, which would facilitate cooperation between the entrepreneurs of the two countries.

In order to develop trade and economic relations, Kyrgyz agricultural producers participated in three international exhibitions in the State of Qatar, in particular, the Sixth Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition "AGRITECH-2018", the Qatar International Spring Exhibition and the International Exhibition "Self-sufficiency of Qatar-2018".

The parties are considering opening a direct air communication and creating a transport and transit corridor between the two countries, which will further expand bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.
