The Kyrgyz Republic and the State of Qatar signed the Protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations on March 3, 1998.

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Bishkek opened on October 2, 2012. On December 8, 2014, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic signed the Decree “On the Establishment of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the State of Qatar” in order to facilitate the further development of political, trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural ties between the two countries. Upon completion of all necessary protocol and organizational issues, in June 2016, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Doha began its full-fledged work.
