On January 25, 2019, Ambassador Zh. Rustenbekov met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Z. Saidzoda at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the most topical issues of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, in particular, the issue of enhancing the process of delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik State border and the need to take joint measures to prevent the escalation of incidents in border areas. Issues of joint cultural events in the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan were discussed.

Special attention was paid to the issues of joint implementation of the agreements reached at the end of the 16th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on the integrated consideration of bilateral issues and the revitalization of the Interstate Council of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan.

Also, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two states in the transport and communications, cultural, humanitarian, trade, economic and water and energy fields.

At the end of the meeting, the parties noted the need for bilateral consultations to prepare official visits at the level of Heads of State, foreign ministers and inter-parliamentary friendship groups.
