Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic from 03.06.2016

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was perplexed by the fact of the unpleasant statements of Mustafa Dzhemilev to the Kyrgyz Republic, published on his personal webpage on June 2. Such remarks to a whole country from a member of parliament of a foreign state and a famous statesman for some time could be attributed to his personal emotional state of mind. As you know, yesterday the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic gave exhaustive explanations, which were also confirmed by the Embassy of Ukraine: there were no complaints, let alone the arrest of M. Jemilev at the Manas airport.

However, due to the fact that so far M. Jemilev did not bother to apologize for his statements and mislead the public, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is authorized to declare that the replies published on the Internet by M. Jemilev are offensive to the sovereignty of the Kyrgyz Republic. The only source and carrier of the sovereignty of the Kyrgyz Republic is its people. Being on Kyrgyz land, a foreign citizen, M. Jemilev, abused local hospitality with his offensive statements and their publication on the Internet, such steps can inflict to a certain extent damage to bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine.

At the same time, the Ministry is obliged to point out to M.Dzhemilev with full responsibility that the manifestation of his personal phobias, as well as the demonstration testing of public relations preparations, are categorically unacceptable and inappropriate in relations between friendly states.

In the Kyrgyz Republic, pluralism of opinion and freedom of speech are encouraged. At the same time, this assessment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is fully adequate to the above-mentioned actions of a foreign citizen and is intended to emphasize once again that the sovereignty of the Kyrgyz Republic cannot be questioned or negatively interpreted and any outside encroachment in this regard is acceptable in any form.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic sent a note of protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and will expect exhaustive explanations from officials and the Parliament of Ukraine. ”
