On June 11, 2019, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic, a videoconference was held on the development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine in the field of light industry.

From the Kyrgyz side, the conference was attended by the president of the Association of Light Industry Enterprises, representatives of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use, textile-sewing enterprises and higher educational institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Ukrainian participants were from among the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ukrainian Association of Light Industry Enterprises, textile, clothing, leather and shoe manufacturers, as well as educational institutions of Ukraine. The event was also attended by employees of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Representative Office of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ukraine.

During the videoconference, the sides discussed the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the light industry, exchanged experiences in the development of textile, apparel and leather and footwear production, and also agreed to establish direct contacts at the level of Associations and enterprises of the two countries to promote their products and create joint ventures. For their part, Ukrainian companies have expressed interest in organizing the supply of cotton, leather and knitwear from Kyrgyzstan to Ukraine.

The issues of experience exchange and training of Kyrgyz specialists on the basis of Ukrainian universities were discussed by higher education institutions.

Following the event, an agreement was reached on the conclusion of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Association of Enterprises of Light Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ukrainian Association of Light Industry Enterprises, as well as organizing mutual visits of business delegations.
