On December 20, 2022, in Berlin, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Germany Mr. Omurbek Tekebaev met with the Deputy Secretary General of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Mr. Dr. Michael Harms. The meeting was attended by the Head of the DAAD Bureau in Berlin, Kai Franke. During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and DAAD were discussed.

Ambassador Mr. Omurbek Tekebaev thanked the leadership of the DAAD for many years of successful cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, within which scholarships are provided to students, graduates and teachers of higher educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan to study and conduct research in Germany, and expressed hope for further active cooperation.

During the conversation, DAAD Deputy Secretary General Mr. Dr. Michael Harms noted the importance of DAAD cooperation with the Central Asian region, including Kyrgyzstan, and informed about current issues of cooperation and issues for the future.

For reference: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) began its work in Kyrgyzstan in 1994. There is a DAAD Information Center in Bishkek.

DAAD supports Kyrgyzstans students and graduates with scholarships for master's programs and PhD projects, as well as university professors and researchers with funding programs that allow them to develop and implement joint research work with relevant collaboration partners at a German university for up to six months. For long-term cooperation projects, DAAD offers various project financing programs.
