On May 29, 2024, as part of a working visit to Italy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Zheenbek Kulubaev, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana.

During the meeting, the Parties discussed the possibilities for further development of Kyrgyz-Italian interparliamentary cooperation, expansion of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties and interaction in the field of education.

In order to develop inter-parliamentary dialogue between countries, the Kyrgyz side noted the importance of establishing contacts at the level of Committees and Offices of Parliaments. In this regard, Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev proposed creating a friendship group of deputies of the Italian Parliament and the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, which could become the basis for expanding interaction between legislators of the two countries and organizing visits at the level of leadership of the Parliaments.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Zh.M. Kulubaev, noted that direct inter-parliamentary contacts and mutual visits not only help strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, but can also become a bridge of friendship between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Italy.

Speaker of the Italian Chamber of Deputies L. Fontana expressed his readiness to provide the necessary support and assistance in the implementation of joint Kyrgyz-Italian projects in specific areas of cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, issues of interaction between the Parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Italy within the framework of the European Union, the European Parliament and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly were also considered.
