Kyrgyz Ambassador to the United States Bolot Otunbaev discussed human rights and justice issues with Assistant Secretary Robert Destro

On May 11, 2020, at the initiative of the American side, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States Bolot Otunbaev had a telephone conversation with Robert Destro, Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights, Democracy and Labor.

During the conversation, problems and prospects for the current state of human rights and freedoms in Kyrgyzstan were discussed, including those associated with the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as possible cooperative directions between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States in the area of ensuring the rule of law and justice.

The parties, stressing the important role of Kyrgyzstan in the region in the development of democracy and human rights, expressed their readiness to develop bilateral dialogue in those areas.
