On December 11, 2023, the U.S. Department of State hosted a meeting of representatives of C5+1 countries dedicated to protecting the rights of people with
disabilities and finding practical solutions to their problems. The meeting was attended by Sara Minkara, Special Adviser to the President of the United States on the International Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary of State, and Deputy Assistant Secretary J.Pommersheim and representatives of government agencies of the USA. The Ambassadors of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan to the United States also spoke during the meeting.

The meeting was moderated by Special Adviser to the President of the United States Sara Minkara, who shared her experience and specific recommendations on
ensuring the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.
Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the USA and Canada B.Amanbaev spoke about the activities, initiatives and priorities of his country in the field of protecting
the rights of people with disabilities. He stressed the importance of joint implementation of the measures stipulated in the Joint Declaration of Chapters C 5+1, and also expressed the need to create accessible conditions for the full integration of persons with disabilities into society, their education and employment. The Ambassador also shared recommendations on conducting educational work among the population.
US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu stressed the importance of increasing cooperation in the C5+1 format on the rights of persons with disabilities in a
multilateral format.

Following the meeting, the participants agreed on joint actions in this direction.
