On February 28, 2019, in the city of Khujand, a meeting was held between Ambassador J. Rustenbekov and the Chairman of the Sogd Region of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rajabba Ahmadzoda.

During the meeting, topical issues of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were discussed. The parties agreed on the need to intensify work on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. The importance of joint measures to prevent incidents in border areas was noted.

Noting the traditional bonds of friendship, as well as close cooperation between the authorities of the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan, the parties discussed issues of organizing joint cultural, mass and sporting events in the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The sides positively noted the increase in commodity turnover between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan, stressed the importance of providing assistance to the business circles of the two countries, including in the creation of joint Kyrgyz-Tajik enterprises.

At the end of the meeting, the parties attached great importance to the acceleration of work on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
