On April 4, 2019, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Tajikistan, Z.Rustenbekov, took part in a round table meeting on Eurasian integration processes. The event was held in the Dushanbe Plaza business complex and organized by the representative office of the Russian Foundation Institute for Eurasian Studies in the Republic of Tatarstan and the non-profit partnership Expert Club Ural-Eurasia with the assistance of the Russian Embassy in Tajikistan.
In his welcoming speech, the Ambassador spoke in detail about the important aspects of the Kyrgyz experience after joining the EEU. It was stressed that Eurasian integration is one of the priorities of the foreign economic policy of Kyrgyzstan.
During his speech, Ambassador J. Rustenbekov spoke in detail about the priority sectors of the economy, which are defined in the long-term development strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic, in particular, electric power industry, mining and light industry, agriculture and processing, transport and tourism, as well as issues of regional development and improvement life of the population. The Ambassador informed that 2019 was declared the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization in Kyrgyzstan and suggested developing cooperation in these areas.
Z.Rustenbekov noted that Russia is one of the leading investors in Kyrgyzstan and now seriously turns to Kyrgyzstan, as a member of the EAEU and to the further development of this organization as a whole. Participants are informed about the successful agreements reached on the basis of March 28, 2019. state visit of the President of the Russian Federation V.Putin to the Kyrgyz Republic.
Special attention was paid to the Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation. Ambassador J. Rustenbekov noted that the participation of Kyrgyzstan in the EAEU opens up broad opportunities for cooperation and promotion of Tajik products to the Union’s markets through Kyrgyzstan and urged the Tajik side to actively use opportunities from Kyrgyzstan’s membership in the EAEU, including with the aim of creating joint ventures in the Kyrgyz Republic . The participants of the round table were informed that when they receive the certificate of origin “Made in Kyrgyzstan”, the goods will be able to be delivered duty free to the markets of the EEU countries.
As part of this event, the heads of overseas institutions of Russia, Kazakhstan in the Republic of Tajikistan, representatives of government and economic structures of Tajikistan, expert communities and scientific and educational institutions of Russia and Tajikistan made presentations.
