Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic R. Kazakbayev with members of the Observer Mission from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly

On April, 9, 2021 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbayev met with a group of the Mission of International Observers from the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS, headed by the Chairman of the Committee of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on ensuring constitutional foundations, human rights and freedoms, citizenship and legality, Rahmon Dilshod.

The parties exchanged views on the course of preparation for the referendum on the draft Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic" and expressed hope that the upcoming elections will make a significant contribution to the process of strengthening the international image of the country.

Ruslan Kazakbayev expressed gratitude to the international observers from the IPA CIS for their interest and participation in this important political event. He assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic is ready to provide the necessary assistance to the IPA CIS Mission on all issues during their stay in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Minister informed about the efforts undertaken by the country's leadership to implement radical reforms, as well as to hold an honest, open and democratic plebiscite.

Mr. R.Kazakbaev informed about the work carried out on accreditation of 183 international observers from 31 countries of the world, including those representing 10 international organizations, as well as 25 representatives of the media.

The Minister also informed about the work of the Constitutional Council on the preparation of the draft Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, which was submitted for open and wide discussion in the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, the media and the public. In this context, Mr. R.Kazakbaev brought to the attention of the CIS Interparliamentary Mission information about 15 registered groups of agitation "for" and "against".

In addition, Mr. R.Kazakbaev drew the attention of the international observers to the fact that the Kyrgyz Republic offered the Venice Commission and other international experts to hold open constructive discussions on the draft Constitution of Kyrgyzstan.

In his turn, the coordinator of the IPA CIS Observer Mission, D. Rahmon, informed about the activities and plans of the Mission within the framework of monitoring the preparations for the referendum and expressed satisfaction with the provided measures, aimed at holding clean elections.
