The Chairman of the Kyrgyz part of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Turkmen Commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Industry, Energy and Subsoil Usage of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jyrgalbek Sagynbayev made a working visit to Turkmenistan on 6-12 May 2019.

In Ashgabat, Jyrgalbek Sagynbaev had meetings with the Chairman of the Turkmen part of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Turkmen Commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation, Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan Alexander Dadayev, Minister of State - Chairman of State Concern "Turkmengaz" Murat Archayev, Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Murat Artykov, Chairman of the Agency “Turkmenhowayollary” Dovran Saburov, the Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmenhimiya" Nyyazly Nyyazlyev. Moreover, there were meetings with the authorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Industry and Communications of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan.

During the meetings, a wide range of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation matters between the Kyrgyz Republic and Turkmenistan was discussed. The parties focused on the application of efforts to increase mutual trade turnover.

Preliminary agreements have been reached on the supply of electricity, mineral fertilizers, natural gas and bitumen from Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan. The Turkmen side agreed to analyze proposals for the supply of agricultural and industrial products from Kyrgyzstan to Turkmenistan.

The parties agreed to organize a trip, in the near future, for representatives of the aviation authorities of Turkmenistan to the Kyrgyz Republic to discuss opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of aviation. The parties also expressed willingness to conduct a visit of a delegation of Kyrgyz entrepreneurs working in the light industry, and a delegation of representatives of the education sector of Kyrgyzstan to Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen side proposed to hold cultural events in the Kyrgyz Republic. In turn, Jyrgalbek Sagynbayev proposed to organize a friendly match between the national teams of the two countries in ice hockey in Kyrgyzstan.

Upon the invitation of the Turkmen side, Jyrgalbek Sagynbayev also took part in the groundbreaking ceremony of laying of the first village on the shores of the Turkmen Lake “Altyn Asyr”, located in the Balkan province of Turkmenistan.

In general, the results of the visit of the Chairman of the Kyrgyz part of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Turkmen Commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation in Turkmenistan indicate a high level of Kyrgyz-Turkmen relations, expressed in a mutual desire of the parties to develop and expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.
