Cooperation in the fields of science, culture and education should play a very important role in the further development of bilateral relations.

In 1996, the first 12 students from Kyrgyzstan were enrolled in the Islamic International University (IIU). Since September 1997, the Malaysian Government, with the assistance of the Al Bukhari Foundation, has allocated a permanent quota - 3 places for Kyrgyz students from low-income families to study at the IMU.

January 30 - February 1, 2009, a delegation of the Malaysian Perlis Medical College of Malaysia headed by the Ruler of the State of Perlis, the Rector of the Malaysian University of Perlis, His Royal Highness Said Fayzuddin ibni Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, visited the Kyrgyz Republic. Following the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov and the Malaysian Perlis University and a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Medical College of Malaysia.

Active cooperation continues within the Malaysian technical cooperation program, training in short-term and courses for civil servants from various ministries and departments of Kyrgyzstan and long-term courses for Kyrgyz students.

Currently, about 170 Kyrgyz students are studying at various institutions and universities in Malaysia.
