In 1997, the Joint Special Economic Commission was established, which from 1999 to 2009 held 6 meetings.

At the suggestion of the Prime Minister of Malaysia M. Mahathir in 1996-1997. Malaysian and Kyrgyz experts conducted a joint two-stage study of the Kyrgyz economy, following which the Malaysian side presented its recommendations for the perspective development of the Kyrgyz economy, in the form of a Joint Economic Research report on 11 priority areas (Master Plan).

On March 11-15, 2009, at the invitation of the Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia Mukhiddin Yassin, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Kyrgyzstan A.Zhaparov visited Malaysia. During the visit, the sides successfully discussed issues of cooperation in the field of the Halal industry and the principles of Islamic finance.

In November 2010, with the support of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic to Malaysia, four staff of the Central Bank of Malaysia held a one-week training course for staff of Kyrgyz National Bank on Islamic finance in Bishkek. According to the information of the employees of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, the courses were useful and fruitful.

On April 4-8, 2011, the delegation of the Accounting Chamber of the Kyrgyz Republic, led by Chairman S.Moldokulov, took part in a seminar organized by the National Audit Department of Malaysia (NADM). The Chairman of the Accounting Chamber held meetings with the leadership of the NADM, a visited one of the advanced territorial divisions of NADM in the state of Selangor.

Currently, as part of the initiative of the Malaysian side to hold the First meeting of bilateral consultations in the fourth quarter of 2018, the Embassy is also considering the issue of organizing a Business forum between the business circles of the two countries within the framework of the said meeting in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Also, Malaysia provides scholarships for civil servants of the Kyrgyz Republic to study at country’s universities and training institutions in various areas through the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP).
