On May 23 of this year, in Kiev, as part of the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the Kara-Kyrgyz autonomous region, the Embassy organized the scientific-practical conference «Manas - the intangible cultural heritage of humanity».

The diplomatic event was attended by Karandeev R., the Minister of culture of Ukraine, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, representatives of the diplomatic corps, political and public figures, ukrainian scientists in the field of turkology/philology, representatives of universities in Kiev and representatives of the Kyrgyz diaspora. From the Kyrgyz side, Bakchiev T., the President of the State Institution «National Academy “Manas”», Narozya V., the translator of the book - Chairman of the ukrainian society «Bereginya» in Kyrgyzstan and Ilipov Z. - the book artist, took part in the event via videoconference.

The conference, where the topic of the influence of «Manas» on world culture was discussed, was held in the three languages – Kyrgyz, Ukrainian and English. During the scientific-practical conference the presentation of Sayakbay Karalaev’s book «The Kyrgyz folk epic Er-Toshtyuk» took place. It was recently published in Ukrainian language with the assistance of ukrainian sponsors. To conclude the meeting, each guest was given a new book as a gift.

During the scientific-practical conference the speakers discussed the influence of Kyrgyz culture on world literature and noted the importance of such an event for strengthening Kyrgyz-Ukrainian cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The participants of the event were shown the video work «Manas».

The diplomatic event was held at a high level and received a positive response from attendees.

New books will be handed over to universities and libraries in Ukraine.
