On May 16, 2023, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Turkmenistan Azizbek Madmarov met with the Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammethan Chakyev.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of expanding cooperation in the transport and transit sphere between the Kyrgyz Republic and Turkmenistan and noted the positive dynamics of cooperation in this area. In this regard attention focused on the need to improve the regulatory framework in this area and bring it in line with the realities of the time.

M. Chakyev, noting with satisfaction the increase in transit cargo flows from Kyrgyzstan, confirmed his interest in intensifying collaboration, expressed his readiness to expand cooperation in this direction and provide the necessary support.

In turn Ambassador A. Madmarov drew the interlocutor's attention to the need for active cooperation between the countries on the early launch of the multimodal route Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Russia, and the creation of new transport corridors and logistics supply chains of goods. In addition, the Ambassador noted the importance of creating favorable conditions for cargo carriers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Turkmenistan, in terms of reducing the cost and increasing the duration of driver's visas, as well as reducing the time for reviewing documents for obtaining this category of visa.

The parties reaffirming their intention to promote interaction in the transport and transit sphere and expressed their readiness to maintain regular contacts.
